Kamila Janik, MSC, BCBA

 

In her professional capacity as the Clinical Director at the Child Development Center (CDC) for Special Needs, Kamila's role involves supervising the provision of multi-disciplinary therapy services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental disabilities, oversees professional trainings and development, outreach, research, and overall service development. Kamila moved to Qatar in 2015 and has since worked with children and their families, local schools, organizations, and universities, actively contributing to the autism community in Qatar.

 

Kamila has worked in the field of autism and developmental disabilities in Ireland since 2009. She has a BA in Psychology from the American College Dublin and a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) from the National University of Ireland, Galway. Kamila also holds a Master of Science in Rehabilitation and Disability Studies from the University College Dublin. She is currently finishing her Doctorate in Education (Special Needs and Inclusive Education) at the University of Exeter in the UK.

 

Kamila is a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) and a Feeding Specialist certified in the Assessment and Treatment Using the Sequential Oral Sensory (S.O.S.) Approach to Feeding and A Sensory-Motor Approach to Feeding. She is also certified in the Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) for children presenting with oral motor difficulties, and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). Kamila is also qualified in the administration of Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2) and Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised (ADI-R) for the purpose of clinical assessments of children with autism.

 

Kamila has worked for many years in assessing, developing, and supervising comprehensive therapy programs for children with autism and related developmental delays. She conducts initial developmental, educational, and behavioral consultations, school and home evaluations, parent trainings, skills assessments, feeding evaluations, and clinical supervision of trainee behavior analysts. Kamila has extensive experience not only in early intervention for toddlers, but also in the provision of educational and behavioural support services for school-aged children and adolescents across a variety of settings including centre-based multi-disciplinary teams, in-home therapy programs, schools, and residential facilities. She also provides workshops and professional development trainings for parents, teachers, special needs teachers, and professionals, and has presented at numerous international conferences.
