On the 2nd of April, in celebration of World Autism Awareness Day which coincides with International Children’s Book Day, we had a surprise visit from our friends at Qatar Children’s Museum. Our QCM friends came to conduct a read-aloud session, a book making activity and a number of other fun and interactive things that we did with our kids in EI during our Afternoon Circle time. The kids went home giddy and excited with their handmade book and a copy of “What’s in the Sand?” as a memento.
Turner and Townsend, an international professional services company from the UK, helped us build a Sensory Garden as part of their community outreach! Sensory gardens provide a fantastic opportunity for children to experience nature first-hand. We are extremely grateful to the volunteers for their time and donation in helping us to assemble various beds, where we hope to grow flowers, herbs, fruits and vegetables.
"Together: We Are Creative": in March 2016, CDC participated in the Best Buddies-Qatar series of creative workshops that include: Boccia Sport, Healthy Diet Activities, Healthy Teeth: Visiting the Dentist, and "It's My Right" Art Workshop.
These workshops were for our Early Intervention Program class students.
CDC welcomed members of the community including educational professionals, counselors, and parents to learn about the breadth of our services. Every department shared innovations in therapy and samples of treatment strategies.
Child Development Center celebrated a successful year of service at an Open House event on April 16, 2015. April is International Autism Awareness month and we proudly participate in the
Autism Speaks Light It Up Blue
initiative. We are grateful to our two corporate sponsorsL UBER and Jotun Paints. UBER pledged $1 for every ride taken in Doha on April 2. Jotun provided a generous donation for children requiring financial assistance as well
as a craft for the Open House.
